Stilpon NESTOR
Stilpon Nestor is a Senior Advisor to Morrow Sodali.
Stilpon founded Nestor Advisors in 2003 and the company was acquired by Morrow Sodali in early 2021. In this role, he has advised the boards of some of the largest companies and financial institutions in the EU and emerging markets in Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East across a variety of sectors. He has also advised public policy makers in Europe and MENA on building an effective corporate governance framework for their markets. He supported the board evaluation of the World Bank Group in 2018 and the European Investment Bank in 2019 and has led governance assessments in large NGOs such as the Global Fund.
Until March 2002, Stilpon was the Head of the Corporate Affairs Division at the OECD, leading the team that produced the global corporate governance benchmark, the OECD Principles of Corporate Governance.
Stilpon was a non-executive director of the Arabian Construction Company, one of the largest contractors in the Gulf (2010-2021). He was a director and member of the risk committee of the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg (2009-2013), a member of the EU Commission’s Advisory Board on Company Law and Corporate Governance (2007-2011) and a member of the board of the International Corporate Governance Network (2004-2007). He is currently a member of the UK Institute of Directors (IoD) Advisory Board on Corporate Governance and co-chairs its working group on governance and technology.
A regular public speaker on governance, Stilpon has participated in events organized by, among others, the Institute of International Finance, the European Securities Market Authority and the UK PRA/FCA.
Stilpon has a legal background and practiced corporate law early in his career. He holds an LL.B from the University of Thessaloniki Law School and an LL.M from Harvard Law School (1983).
